Four simple words. Yet, full of power and life. They are the words that set the universe into motion, that created order out of chaos. They are the very words that flowed forth from the breath of God and performed the greatest miracle known to mankind. The same words need to flow forth from our mouths today.

Genesis 1:3-4
Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness.
Let there be light.
So simple. Yet, so profound.
Let there be light. Let Your glory shine upon the world. Let there be light to extinguish the darkness.
As I laid in my bed, in the presence of Jesus, after He had just revealed to me His secrets of Heaven. He gave me a new understanding of these words - the prophetic power and declaration of releasing light into the dark places.
I began to pray for Him to release His light. And as those words escaped my lips, I felt the immense power of them as they hit the atmosphere around me. I prayed for individual people in my life, who may be caught in the dark cloud of confusion and mental illness and distance from God. But amongst those prayers, were some of these words:
Let there be light on the lost.
Let there be light on our families.
Let there be light on disease and sickness.
Let there be light over our nation.
Let there be light in the darkness.
Let there be light.
Let there be light.
Let there be light.
Tears rolled down my cheeks. There is power in those four words - “let there be light.” They are the very words that spoke our universe into being. They are the very words of Life. They are the declaration of His glory. He is the light of the world. So when I say, “let there be light,” it can be translated as, “let there be Jesus."
Light is the presence of God in creation and the source of all life.
John 8:12
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, 'I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.'
I encourage you to pray those simple words today. “Let there be light” over whatever darkness is in your life or the lives of others around you. The same four words that were spoken by the breath of God to perform the mightiest miracle of history hold the same power for you today - as you are in Christ and share His power and breath. As we speak these words out, we might just begin to see miracles - light, hope, the presence of God - break forth all around us.
"On day one God revealed light to the world, which was shrouded in uncertainty, disorder, confusion and emptiness. By introducing the light, He also separated and distinguished it from darkness. Spiritually, this speaks of the manifestation of Jesus to a darkened and disordered world, a world shrouded in uncertainty. His introduction brought light to the world as it is He who is the light of the world, Just as He openly declared, "I am the light of the world" (John 8:12)." - Adrian Beale
