You Need a NEW Wineskin!

Luke‬ ‭5‬:‭37‬-‭39‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the new wine would burst the wineskins, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine must be stored in new wineskins. But no one who drinks the old wine seems to want the new wine. ‘The old is just fine,’ they say.”

This word is such a holy burden on my heart today.

I am filled with such a holy dissatisfaction, a holy discomfort. I am feeling an internal tension, hunger and desire to be stretched…but it feels like I have no more room to expand further. 

I feel like there are limits on me.

I feel like I have reached the maximum point of stretching.

I feel like there’s more. I know that there is more!

I want to be stretched further, I want to experience more, I want to reach new heights…but something is stopping me!

Maybe, you feel this too. Maybe you know that there is more for you. Maybe you hunger for something greater - there is a voice inside of you calling you into something bigger. You can't quite put your finger on it, but you know that it is an anticipation for great change. You know that there is a radical shift on the horizon, beckoning you to come deeper. You feel as though you might burst, as the anticipation bubbles up inside of you. Maybe you are seeking the Lord and feel as though He cannot fill you up any further...you want more, but it's almost like you can't FIT anymore in and you don't know what to do about it!

You know something needs to change...something is calling you to change. There is a small whisper asking you to lean into the spiritual discomfort of this time and to ask Him what it all means.

That’s where the Lord gave me a revelation and a word that I believe is for many in this season.

“You need a new wineskin. You want new things, but you need me to replace your old vessel so that I can pour new wine into you. So that I call fill you afresh. So that you can carry my glory in a greater capacity. This inner tension and discomfort is because you have outgrown the old skin. The old skin, structures, mindsets, habits are placing limitations on you, and you want to stretch, expand and experience more! Come to me and ask me to provide you with a new vessel to carry new wine. Allow me to replace the old with the new so that you can be expanded to a greater measure.”

I feel the Lord asking you to come and sit with Him and ask Him, “Lord, what are the things that I need to get rid of to take up the new?”

I see Him pouring new wine into a fresh vessel. I see a freedom and new sense of wonder in the Spirit for the things that He wants you to experience - the things He wants to show you AND the things that He wants to give you. I feel a sense that the Lord is going to direct some of you to greater things…they may be slightly overwhelming and involve great adjustments and change, but He is asking you to trust Him and trust that He will make a way forward for you. 

Man, this tension in my Spirit is overwhelming and this word is HEAVY. I feel as though I’M about to burst! 

I believe He is calling,

“Let me replace your wineskin. Let me give you a new vessel. You have outgrown it! You are being limited by old structures! I want to pour the new into you, but you cannot carry it. You cannot be expanded until you have stripped away the old!”

Prayer

Lord, we come boldly before the throne of grace today. We ask that you would replace our old vessels, our old wineskins, with brand new ones. We ask that you would give us a new capacity to be stretched and expanded beyond what we have experienced before. We pray that you would reveal to us new facets of You and Your Kingdom. We pray that you would provide us with a new vessel to carry the blessing and anointing that You want to pour into us. We pray that you would stretch and lead us to greater measure. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
